Soviet children begin to hear propaganda slogans before they can feed themselves. The teachers' manual for
Soviet nurseries and kindergarten stipulates that instructors of two- and three-years olds(called "up bringers' in Russian)
should teach their charges» to recognize Lenin and Stalin in portraits and illustrations. The teacher is told to» arouse feelings
of love and .respect for them». From that modest beginning, the education in Lenin and Stalin get more complicated every year.
The children learn poems and songs about them, which are invariably recited for visitors to their kindergarten.
